Catz in English

Catz Lappeenranta was founded in 1996 to develop basketball for women and girls in Lappeenranta. The high quality in coaching has brought in success, the young players from Catz have been at the top in Finland during the entire beginning of the 21st century. The club has won several medals in different agegroups' Finnish Championship-leagues and in many international tournaments. Many girls have also had the priviledge of representing Finland in different national teams.

There is a junior team from Catz in every agegroup series in Finland(mikros, minis, C-,B- and A-girls) who all play in their own leagues. The coaches who coach these teams have passed at least the basic level in coach training. The parties responsible for the training are the club and the finnish basketball association. Anybody who wants to be involved in this should contact the office.

The pride and joy of Catz is the women's first team who fought its way to the Finnish Championship-league in 2005 and during the 3 years in the league has achieved two silver medals and the Finnish Cup championship. In the first team there has been the clubs own junior players all the time, including players who still are juniors. One player who is also counted as the club's own junior is russian Lena Reshetko, born in 1986 who has been playing for Catz ever since she was 13 years old.

During the season that has just begun, Catz will play in the Finnish Championship league and also in the Finnish Cup. The home games will be played at Lappeenrannan Urheilutalo. The first home game in the league will be on saturday, October 11th. There will be announcements about the games in Etelä-Saimaa, Kaakkois-Suomen Sanomat and on the clubs finnish website.
